My First Blog

10/18/2011 in Aphesis Updates, Tim Rule's Blog

I have now come to the place in my life were I would like to jump into this blogging thing. I am doing it for a few reasons.  First, I think it is a great way for me to process in black and white what I am thinking, feeling, believing, etc.. Secondly, I think it is a great way for us to share our lives with each other.  Last, but certainly not least, blogging gives you and me an opportunity to encourage each other.

HOWEVER, there are some fears I’m having about this whole blogging thing. I am not a good writer. For example, look how many times I said the word “I” up to this point. “I” know there is a better way to write these sentences without using the word “I” but “I” don’t want to take the time to figure it out.  That brings me to my next fear. “I” fear the amount of time blogging may require. This could prove to be a significant problem in my blogging future. Another fear “I” have is that “I” will reveal to everyone my inability to use the English language to communicate a clear thought. The thought of doing this without having all my editors go through what I am writing makes me want to breathe in a bag.  So with all that said, here “I” go. (That is now a total of eighteen “I”s that “I” have now used. Make that now twenty. Not a good start!)

I’m calling my blog “Pickle Juice”. It is a well known fact that if you want to make a pickle it will require immersing a cucumber into a pickling solution until the cucumber absorbs and takes on the flavoring characteristics of the pickling solution. I pray my blog is “pickle juice” to help pickle you and me. I would like to help immerse us (pickle us) in the truth of God’s love and delight for you.

Aphesis info luncheon on October 6th in Meridian, Idaho

09/29/2011 in Aphesis Updates

Greetings from the Aphesis Group ministry team!  We wanted to let you know that we will be hosting a free luncheon next week for pastors, elders, discipleship leaders, and/or potential small group leaders.

What:         Aphesis Group Ministries info luncheon

When:        11:30am-1:00pm on Thursday, October 6th

Where:      Idaho Pizza Company (405 E Fairview Ave) in Meridian, Idaho

In addition to lunch you will get to hear about the Aphesis discipleship process and how it effectively and Biblically addresses the complexity of issues in believer’s lives that come from western culture’s unhealthy influences and disintegrating family structure. Please feel free to extend this invitation to others that may have a heart for or interest in this type of ministry.

If you are planning on or interested in attending the luncheon please contact Suzanne at suzannelowman@aphesisgroup.com or 208.841.9075 to RSVP.

We are also pleased to announce that we will be offering our 3-day weekend facilitator training conference in Eagle, Idaho on October 21st-23rd; for registration information click here.

“I recently attended an Aphesis training conference for group facilitators, finding it seriously biblical, refreshingly interactive, and cultivating of genuine community.  I found it stimulating, because I was constantly engaged, and challenging (even sometimes threatening) because I was thrust into an occasional life-and-death showdown with a dark resistance inside me to the claims of grace.  What a revelation, and what a sensational discovery: grace (again!) and the freedom to receive and to give meaningful support to one another for this sacred journey. I hope and pray that this is a new direction for the church, for your church, for each of us.  A New Testament kind of direction and application that is daring, shockingly inclusive, wonderfully intrusive, Christ-honoring and humanly-fulfilling … that will be sustained by the Spirit of God, and by these seasonal champions of grace and truth.”

The Portland Training

05/03/2011 in Aphesis Updates

We have just completed an Aphesis Group facilitators training in Portland at Rolling Hills Community Church.  A total of 30 attended the 3 day training.  At least 70% of those attending were either professional counselors, pastors, or professional Christian laborers.  The material and process was received with great enthusiam. We were told often by participants in the training that this is the best and most Biblical material and process they have ever seen for addressing the Christian inner life.  It is so fun to be a part of something that is so effective and so greatly needed.
